This tour covers an area often unjustifiably ignored by many travelling to Italy. The mountains known as the "Appennini" reach their peak in altitude just to the east of Rome with the Gran Sasso at 2912 meters. This area is blessed by its position: approximately 600km south of the Alps and in the middle of the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas, means it offers great mountain riding earlier than the Alps and later on than the alps.
The great natural beauty of this area is also confirmed by the presence of 4 among Italy's most important Natural Parks: the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, the Parco Nazionale della Maiella, the Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga, and the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini.
We shall have time to ride all these and enjoy the variety and beauty of regions set so close to each other. The roads are in excellent conditions and no business traffic will be around to disturb our ride.
