Champagne
Overview
Champagne
If you are looking for somewhere in France, but not too far, what better place for a long weekend than the Champagne Region!
After a short channel crossing enjoy a ride through rural French countryside where traffic is light and the welcome warm and friendly.
You will stay in a delightful Logis de France located in the heart of the Champagne Region. All rooms are en-suite, and there is a pleasant bar and restaurant offering some delicious menus and local dishes plus of course a great selection of wine and champagnes!
We have included two lovely evening meals "Menu Terroir" and "Menu Coup de Coeur" both of which will be accompanied by a glass of champagne.
And there are equally appetising daytime activities too! The Champagne "capital" of Epernay is only three miles away. Stroll down the famous "Avenue de Champagne" and see how many famous champagne houses you can spot, Mercier and Moet & Chandon being amongst the best know.. There are over a hundred kilometres of champagne filled cellars under the streets and it is certainly worth paying a visit to one of the houses that offer excellent guided tours.
To fully appreciate the fascinating production of champagne it's recommended to visit some of the smaller, friendly production houses located in the countryside particularly along the well signposted "Route Touristique de Champagne". Definitely don't miss Hautvillers and find out all about Dom Perignon and the birth of champagne.
Ride through the famous "Montagne de Reims" to Reims. Take some time to visit the Gothic masterpiece of Reims Cathderal which has always played a ceremonial role in French royal history as the traditional site of the crowing of kings of France. With the sightseeing done, enjoy lunch at a nearby pavement café. If you stil have time to spare take a river cruise from Cumières, visit a local "chocolatier" or a snail farm!.
But more than anything enjoy the roads, the countryside and riding through the celebrated vineyards.
