Baja & Copper Canyon

There is no place on the planet like the Baja.  Contrary to the image generated by the grueling off road Baja 1000 race, there are paved roads that will delight those who prefer to stick to the asphalt.   A favorite for couples or singles, this is the perfect stylish mid-winter get away.

Highlights

• In season (January - March) we get close enough to pet a gray whale.  Migrating from the Bering Sea, thousands of these magnificent creatures settle in for the winter off the Pacific shores of Baja. (see photo album)

Overview

Baja & Copper Canyon

There is no place on the planet like the Baja.  Contrary to the image generated by the grueling off road Baja 1000 race, there are paved roads that will delight those who prefer to stick to the asphalt.   A favorite for couples or singles, this is the perfect stylish mid-winter get away.

Highlights

  • You will experience the true treasure of the Sierra Madres aboard the Chihuahua al Pacifico train. With bikes safely stored in El Fuerte, riders will overnight on the Copper Canyon rim with time to enjoy the scenery and learn of the primitive Tarahumara Indians that inhabit the region.
  • There are touches of Spain on the western slopes of the Sierra Madres. Alamos and El Fuerte once reigned as Colonial outposts in the Old World. It was not an easy conquest in this territory of the legendary Yaqui and Mayo Indians known as valiant fighters who stubbornly resisted the Conquistadors. Today you find these remote villages a delightful connection with Mexico's deep heritage.
  • An overnight ferry transports you and your motorcycle to the Baja Peninsula from the mainland of Mexico. You'll enjoy the open sea, watching the porpoises dance in the waves and the view of sun rising over the rocky horizon of the Baja. You will have cabins on board and the bikes will be safe and secure in the hold of the vessel.
  • The Baja still remains primitive for much of its nearly one-thousand miles of peninsula, a mix of Mexico, Californian's playground and resort glitter. Cabo San Lucas is no longer a sleepy little dirt street fishing village. But you can still find a lonely beach, some mouth watering fish tacos for a bargain and the mirror like views of the tranquil Sea of Cortez are great from the seat of a motorcycle. Roads are paved all the way.

• In season (January - March) we get close enough to pet a gray whale.  Migrating from the Bering Sea, thousands of these magnificent creatures settle in for the winter off the Pacific shores of Baja. (see photo album)
